ESI Guidance Assessments

Online guidance assessments are brief investments of time in capturing a wealth of information that is critical to providing effective student support.

ESI guidance assessments measure student interest in education and career options, aspirations, intentions, postsecondary preparation, perceived limitations, risk factors, information needs, and more. Combined with student and parent demographic characteristics, the assessments enable powerful information targeting and communications on a one-to-many basis.

ESI has developed two online guidance assessment systems: the Universal Encouragement Program (UEP) for grades 6-12, and the Connext Assessment System for students in colleges and universities. Both systems enable counselors, advisors, and other student support personnel to gather, report, and act upon student guidance needs and interests. For documentation, assessment previews, and sample reports, click here for UEP, and click here for Connext.

ESI makes available customization tools that enable site administrators to use only questionnaire items that are applicable to their students and to create questionnaire items that are specific to their organizational purposes. Questionnaire items may be suppressed for grade levels for which the items aren't needed or aren't appropriate. Both systems support creation of entirely customized questionnaires.

Reporting tools enable creation of guidance reports for use by counselors, student advocates, and parents. Guidance reports enable targeted guidance services, focused, data-driven, program development, and informed parental involvement. Pre/post administrations of the assessments enable tracking the impact of interventions and services.

ESI guidance assessments include reporting and communication tools that enable identification of students with specific risk factors and communication with those students and their parent/guardians.

ESI provides its guidance assessments at no charge to schools and education support programs. Enhanced reporting tools for states, districts, consortia, and multi-site programs are available on a subscription basis.

UEP users have joined in an online professional community called the Career and Postsecondary Encouragement Network at www.capenetwork.groupsite.com.
